'Daddy Ghoul' by Lisa McGee |
Learning that his father has died, George decides to attend the funeral in secret, his parents believing him dead for the last three years; sneaking into the cemetery, George is surprised to find someone else watching the proceedings from a hiding place: his father, George Senior, now returned as a ghost. As the two make up for lost time, George is shocked to learn that his parents have split up; his father now lives in a caravan park while his mother shares the family home with her lover, Marcus, who happens to be George’s former Games Teacher. Back at ‘Honolulu Heights’, Herrick begins experiencing withdrawal symptoms for blood; needing to keep the amnesiac vampire alive so that he can learn the means of his resurrection, Mitchell forces Herrick to drink his own blood, but it quickly becomes apparent that only fresh human blood will do. Mitchell then receives a visit from Detective Constable Nancy Reid, who is investigating the Box Tunnel Murders; Mitchell is unaware that it was Nina who tipped off the police… Meanwhile, George helps his father to resolve the issues that are stopping him from passing into the afterlife; however, he soon makes a startling discovery: his father isn’t actually dead…
